Kia Ora Aotearoa

“Kia Ora Aotearoa!”

Kia Ora means Hello in Māori, and Aotearoa means Long White Cloud, which is the Māori name for New Zealand.

How it all came to pass

Tanja got a work offer that allowed us to move to New Zealand. So, in 2019 we packed a few things, sold the rest and moved to Christchurch at the end of 2019. The combined time from arriving at O.R. Thambo departure lounge in Johannesburg, to arriving in Christchurch Airport was over 50 hours!

Employment

I was still employed at a BBD, South African software company, but was lucky enough to get employment by late February 2020 at eStar.

And then… COVID.

Both of us was still settling into our new positions when the COVID-19 lockdown was put into force. Luckily for us we are comfortable around each other and comfortable working from home.

And so

That is how we got to where we are now. We hope to make this beautiful country our home.
