Hop Water

What is Hop Water?

It is carbonated water infused with hops.

Ingredients

This if for a 19 liter batch.

Description Amount Notes
pH Meter 1 Electronic, litmus papers
Hops 100g Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and Cascade are popular choices
Water 20 liter
Campden Tablet 0.5 tablet
Brewing acidifier Enough to get water to pH between 3.2 and 3.6 Citric or lactic acid
Citrus 1 Lemon or lime
CaCl 0.5 tsp
Fine strainer 1 Coffee strainer or similar will work

Steps

  1. Add water to kettle
  2. Add acidifier to correct pH
  3. Add citrus juice
  4. Bring to boil
  5. Boil for 30 minutes
  6. Wait for the water to cool to 85C
  7. Add the hops
  8. Wait for the water to cool to room temp
  9. Sanitise the strainer
  10. Transfer the hop water through the strainer into a keg
  11. Force carbonate to 3 to 4 volumes
